Site Sensitivities: Countryside / National Landscape / Undeveloped Coast

Moult Barn

The proposed building is a logical form to find as an expression of the site and its surrounding area. Its physical and historical attributes will enhance the location with a high-quality design that represents both a creative development of the local vernacular and demonstrates an achievable high-standard of sustainable design as opposed to the numerous crass, ‘money no object,’ Salcombe Marine Villas in the area.

This proposal is a sympathetic and historically genuine aesthetic that reflects the local vernacular - this is the antithesis of many of the ‘Marine Villas’ and modern replacement dwellings in Salcombe that aggressively demand attention and selfishly occupy most of the available plot.

“The Panel supports the outstanding and innovative design of this project. The Panel is supportive of the design proposals, which it is noted promotes high levels of sustainability and fits in with the overall form and layout of its surroundings”
